Four tips from the guide
Describe your kid, skip the word sensory
"Sensory" covers everything from a $3 fidget to a giant crash pad, so it doesn't tell family much. Say what they enjoy, what makes a gift hard to use, and two or three specific ideas.
Keep it short and kind
Try appreciation, one detail, and one suggestion: "Thank you for thinking of her. Toy sounds are really hard for her, so please check with us first. I can send a few things she'd love."
Send it before they shop
A quick heads up before shopping starts saves everyone from returns, hurt feelings, and the singing toy that ends up under the couch within the hour.
Give them a yes list
Relatives want to get it right. A short list of things your kid already loves gives them somewhere to start and still leaves room to choose.
The fill in gift card
One page that tells family what your kid loves, what's too much, and where to start. Fill it in, screenshot it, and text it to the group chat.
